Will the WTBTS ever become mainstream like the WWCG?
by donny inback during the 80's and 90's, i occasionally heard statements lumping the society in with the likes of the worldwide church of god who had very similar teachings and even believed in 1975 as being a year that god would act (1975 in prophecy!
by herbert w. armstrong).
clearly the roots of the wwcg were from the same as the societys and both groups were viewed as cults.

i dunno.. i think it might become somewhat more mainstream in the future. whereas the "official" version as fed by the GB remains hardcore, it seems to me the younger generation is caring less and less about the details and there's a much more open minded attitude in many. also with the shortening of the sunday meeting and elimination of the bookstudy and talk of more changes to come, the load is lightening and will give dubs more time to just take it easy.
some time ago on a different thread on here, someone posted something to the effect of that they think that in 50 years from now there will still be a group called "jehovah's witnesses", but that they'll practically be unrecognizable from the same group today, with no more organised field service and stuff like that. i thought that was interesting, and to a certain extent i believe it's my opinion as well.

very stereotype, the native inspired clothing, the canoes, etc. personally i kinda like that kind of stuff, but i can see it being offensive and/or rediculous to natives.

joebin, why the hate? and disbelief? i'm a regular, and in my cong there's one df'd that comes regularly, and i don't talk to him because 1. i don't know him (he was out before i came in that hall) 2. he knows how he's supposed to act especially if he wants to be re-instated which i'm guessing he wants since he's almost always there, and 3. in that setting it would cause a big stir with many consequences.
on the other hand, i've searched and added some df'd friends from back in the day on facebook, but i mean it depends on them alot too, alot of time they know the reality and rather just stay out of it, other times they're respectful on keeping it on the down low, it's different for each person.

The ''truth'' that lead me to question the WTS.
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe truth that leads to eternal life says on page 13:.
we need to examine, not only what we personally believe, but also what is taught by any religious organization with whichwe may be associated.
are its teachings in full harmony with god's word, or are they based on the traditions of men?

lots.. lots.. the dress code one of them. no beards, heck jesus and all the men back then had beards. no goatie. not even a little thingamajig (forget what they're called) under the lip. no piercings. all because it's "the image of this world", but yo if someone has a neatly kept beard for instance, i'm not gonna think he's a murdering motorcylce gang person. geez

Pantyhose
by Princess Daisy Boo insomething that has facinated me since i started reading and posting on this board was the whole "women must always wear pantyhose" idea... .
the thought sometimes crosses my mind as to whether or not there were any differences in the borg from country to country - but the only issue i have come across is the pantyhose one.
in south africa, to the best of my knowledge, while i was "in", this was not a requirement - we only wore stockings if the weather required it.

canada - no pantyhose rule.
for the brothers, suit jacket at book study depends on the particular BS group. at some it's no reading or prayer if you don't.

by vivalavida indoes it ring a bell?.
it was taken by me from the stern magazine from germany issued on august 13th, 1961..... clue: i guess 47 years later she wouldn't attract any angels, would she?.

i wonder if she ever saw herself in the book by coincidence? that would be freaky for her
It's funny that people keep tripping over that picture and making the connection.
Hortensia, i guess everyone's just busy reading 1961 stern's all the time. its the thing to do
